Artwork built for the method it will be made with.

Screen print, DTG, embroidery, sublimation, laser engraving and vinyl each need a different file. A four-colour gradient that looks great on a mockup becomes six screens and a quote you did not expect — or an embroidery digitiser quietly redrawing your logo. We design to the production method from the start.

How it’s done

The five stages, and what happens in each

  1. Method & constraints — day 1

Which products, which supplier, which production method, how many colours are allowed and what quantity. Screen print charges per colour; embroidery has a minimum stitchable detail; sublimation cannot print white. These decide the design, so they come first.

  2. Concept & placement — days 2–5

Two or three artwork directions, each shown at correct print size and position on the actual garment or item — chest, sleeve, back, left-breast. Placement changes how a design reads more than most people expect.

  3. Method adaptation — days 6–8

The chosen artwork is rebuilt per method: colour-separated and trapped for screen print, simplified and thickened for embroidery, vectorised at full scale for large format, converted to a single-path outline for engraving.

  4. Proofing — days 9–10

Realistic mockups on light and dark garments, plus a technical sheet for your supplier: exact print dimensions, placement measured from the collar, Pantone references and thread colours.

  5. Handover — day 11

Vector source, separated files per method, PNGs with transparency for DTG, and the spec sheet. We will review your supplier's sample photo against the approved artwork before you commit to the full run.

Design only — production is billed by your supplier. We can recommend one, or work with yours.

Colour-count aware

We design to your screen budget. Fewer colours, lower unit cost, same impact — on purpose, not by accident.

Embroidery-safe

Thin strokes and tiny type do not survive a needle. We thicken and simplify before the digitiser has to guess.

Measured placement

Spec sheets give exact print size and distance from the collar, so every unit in the run is identical.

Questions

Before you brief us

No, we design the artwork. That keeps us honest about colour counts and methods rather than upselling you a production run. We are happy to recommend suppliers or work to yours.
On DTG or sublimation, yes. On screen print a gradient becomes a halftone and costs extra screens; on embroidery it is not possible at all. We will build you a simplified one- or two-colour version that still reads as your brand.
We will redraw it in vector first. That is usually $40–$80 depending on complexity, and it is worth doing once — you will need the vector for every future print job anyway.
Depends on the method, and that is exactly what the spec sheet solves. Typically: vector AI/EPS with outlined type for screen print and engraving, a 300 dpi transparent PNG at full print size for DTG, and a DST or the vector for embroidery digitising.
Yes, and please let us. Send a clear photo of the supplier's sample and we will compare placement, size and colour against the approved artwork — free, and it has saved clients whole print runs.
