Packaging that survives the shelf and the press.

Most packaging problems are not design problems — they are production problems. A panel that looks perfect on screen loses 4 mm to the glue flap, the barcode sits on a fold, the varnish kills the contrast. We design to the dieline from the first sketch, so what you approve is what comes off the press.

How it’s done

The five stages, and what happens in each

  1. Specification — days 1–2

We need three things before design starts: the dieline from your printer (or the box dimensions so we can build one), your product's legal copy, and the stock and finish you plan to use. Matte laminate and gloss UV behave very differently — deciding this last is how brands end up reprinting.

  2. Structure & hierarchy — days 3–4

Before any colour goes down we map what has to be readable from two metres, from arm's length, and in the hand. Brand, product, variant, weight, claims — each gets a zone on the panel. You approve this wireframe stage; it is where most of the value sits.

  3. Concept design — days 5–9

Two or three complete directions, each shown flat on the dieline and rendered in 3D on a shelf next to competitor products. Judging packaging in isolation is how you end up invisible in a store.

  4. Refinement & pre-flight — days 10–13

Chosen route goes through revision rounds, then production checks: bleed on every edge, type outlined, images at 300 dpi, total ink coverage within your printer's limit, barcode verified, small print above minimum legal size.

  5. Handover & press support — days 14–15

Files go to you and, if you want, straight to your printer. We stay on email through the proofing stage and will review the printer's digital proof against the approved artwork at no extra cost.

Dieline-first

We design inside your actual dieline, not a rectangle we adjust later. Folds, flaps and glue zones are respected from day one.

Tested on a shelf

Every concept is rendered beside real competitor packs at shelf distance before you approve it.

Zero reprints

No client has reprinted because of our artwork in three years. Pre-flight is a stage, not an afterthought.

Questions

Before you brief us

Yes. Give us the box or bottle dimensions and the type of pack and we will build a dieline for you, or request the standard one from your printer. Building a custom dieline adds about two days.
We lay them out to the size and spacing your market requires, but the content is yours — you supply the verified copy. For food and cosmetics we will flag anything that looks non-compliant, but final legal sign-off is on you or your regulator.
Always. We prefer it. Send us their spec sheet and we will match their ink limit, bleed and file naming exactly, then review their proof against the approved artwork.
Supported. Tell us how many print heads the job allows and we will design within that. If you need a metallic or fluoro spot we will separate it on its own plate and mark it correctly.
If you have them, yes — send them. If you do not, we can work from your existing logo and materials, or build the identity first (see Logo & Brand Identity).
